I put this together some time ago and have listed it in this forum some time in February. This was done as we were then thinking about joining a "yoking arrangement with Faith UMC" which has changed to a positive plan to renew "Church" in all of our…
Mark your calandars for June 14 as we will be recognizing the dozen or so of our members that came forward this past year (Sept 08 through May 09) to assist in the worship services as "liturgists". If you are one of those, please come to the service…
1. What was the church plan for each of the last four years? What we're the benchmarks and how well did the paid staff meet them? Where are the documents that support these plans and the results or lack thereof?
2. Where are we as a church now?

Jim, what a great and powerful concept! That chaplain from Pearl Harbor would certainly indeed be proud to be so remembered. Yes, we should have monies available to Pastor Dave and our Church Secretary to assist the needy who walk into this church s…
During the first few days of WWII a song came out based on a story about a chaplain aboard a ship in Pearl Harbor who stepped forward to man a anti aircraft weapon during the attact. He reportedly made this statement and is soon became a popular pat…
In my opinion this is our mission to grow and maintain our membership at First United Methodist of South St Paul.
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of al…
Russ, it is always wonderful to hearing little children expressing themselves in church. We have a group of young families coming to church and that is so exciting to see.
One young couple met another young couple while un-decorating the church. The…

Unfortunately, many people and organizations are afraid to mention God for fear they will "offend" someone. Should they mention God, Allah, Mohammed, who? Not saying it's right, just a sad fact.
We probably need to see if it is a Christian organization or if it garners support from all faiths. I agree that the work accomplished is not solely by human hands, but unfortunately many people do not have the same worldview as I do and see the human being as the ultimate in getting things done. I wonder if this is more of a civil organization that can be supported by people of all, or no, faith groups.
ANother way to look at this is to see it as a minsitry opportunity by saying to the community at large that this is an issue important enough that 16 people from one church came to say that all people are made in the image of God and deserve to be treated as such. At the table there were two people who, if I understood them correctly, are not affliated with any church. What message did we send to them when we showed up, and let them know we were from 1st UMC?
I was disappointed that the Women's Shelter program on Thursday May 23, did not place any emphasis on God's role in everyone's lives. They should read Psalm 127:1-2, Psalm 62:5-8, Psalm 70, and I am sure there are a host of other examples.
I was shocked that God's name was never mentioned in the program, no invocation before lunch. I seems they are proud that they have done all their good works based on human effort alone. Oh, well, maybe it's just me.
