Having joined the choir this year, I am humbed and honored when our choir director Chris Ross sings my part with me in any song during our practices on Wednesday evenings because she can read the music and help me find my notes, when I struggle with that. I mentioned this to Shannon, my wife, after practice tonight, and she noted, "Yes, Chris has perfect pitch."
And I thank the Lord for Chris' perfect pitch. Thank you, Mrs. Ross!
And I thank the Lord for Sue, who played the pipe organ and keyboard and made it all look so easy when it was indeed a strain. Sue and Mark have been such personal blessings in our life, stopping to chat with us when they would cross our paths at a Target store on a Sunday afternoon. God-sends for which we send God's blessings in return!
I also thank God for our pastor who preaches from the heart, and to the heart, with divine arrows that find their perfect pitch in touching our souls. I believe that the Holy Spirit is upon him and am very humbled to find a church where the pastor is moved by the Spirit of the Lord.
I am also irrevocably humbled by my (i.m.h.o.) perfect spouse, who has a heart of genuine love so abounding that she is willing to risk trying to help people no matter how difficult, frustrating or even silly sounding as that may seem at the time. I'm not worthy of such silliness!
I am not worthy of any of these gifted helpers from God in my life. But I thank the Lord for each of them. And I am moved by them. And I praise the Lord for each of them.
I am the imperfect recipient of many perfect gifts from God.
We all are, when we think about it.
What can we do in return? Any thoughts?
